Mediqs Away provides 24 hour on call emergency physician support to it’s medical staff. Prior to the commencement of operations we will liaise with the local health services and community to strategically assess our provision of health services specific to the site and region.

Mediqs Away utilises the Central Australian Rural Practitioners Association (CARPA) Standard Treatment manual as its treatment guide. This is the recognised treatment manual in all remote locations throughout Australia and is considered “Best Practice” in remote pre-hospital care. The Company’s procedures are governed by the CRANA treatment manual which is also considered “Best Practice” and used by remote practitioners in Australia. Using these guidelines ensures correct referral pathways to ensure patients are given Quality Care.

Mediqs Away holds Poisons Licences throughout Australia enabling us to maintain a supply of medications to enable advanced care to take place prior to arrival of RFDS and thus improve the outcomes for critical medical and trauma patients.

Medics will be involved with:

  • Day to day management of the clinic.
  • 24 hour patient management.
  • Daily checks of emergency equipment.
  • Mobile medical visits to site to monitor health issues including hydration.
  • Drug and Alcohol testing if required.
  • First aid kit checks and replenishment.
  • Weekly camp and mess hygiene inspections.
  • Staff counselling as required.
  • Involvement in safety meetings.
  • Pre job start meetings.

Our qualifications are:

  • Degree or hospital based education.
  • Demonstrated experience in the remote Pre hospital environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in aero-medical retrieval medicine.
  • Demonstrated experience in suturing wounds.
  • Demonstrated experience in Intubation and laryngeal masks.
  • Demonstrated experience in advanced cardiac life support and advanced trauma life support.
  • Demonstrated educational experience to deliver health messages to crews.
  • Site inductions to be delivered on site.
  • Area specific medical knowledge.
